Creative. Pretentious. Thought-provoking. Cryptic. Poetic. Nonsense. This book was an amalgamation of all these qualities, and uniquely demonstrated how the format of a traditional novel could be re-imagined. It does suffer from the author’s need to be perceived as clever, yet that also works in the book’s favor. I loved the attention to detail and the profound reflections on the everyday human experience. I appreciated the amount of effort it must have taken him to produce the consistent tone and pacing of the story. Lots of poetry and poet references that went over my head, but I don’t feel it impacted my overall understanding of the book. I found it a mostly easy read, at times quite funny, with an abrupt ending that is growing on me.
