Life Reimagined
Barbara Bradley Hagerty, 380 pages
Well-researched, poorly edited take on what it means to be middle-aged according to a smug, self-obsessed, childless NPR reporter. Even her insistence on using a verbose version of her name should tell you something about her. The narrative was crafted with intention and care, but it could have used a haircut of 100+ pages. There’s much to be grateful for in midlife and setting yourself up for the senior years takes active engagement, a social circle/loved ones and finding purpose. No surprises there. I captured a few potent takeaways and I’m glad I read the book even though it felt like a slog at times.
