Thinking Better: The Art of the Shortcut in Math and Life
, pages
The author’s thesis was something like: use math for powerful shortcuts to answers when faced with intellectually challenging decisions. What he isn’t very upfront about is that you need to be savvy in advanced mathematics to truly implement these shortcuts. While written with the voice and tone of “anybody can do this,” the reality is “any math nerd can do this.” The mini-chapter after each chapter, dubbed a pit stop, felt like unnecessary padding and a convenient place for the author to show off his “research.” All that said, I did learn (re-learn) some general math concepts and references that with repetition through readwise may engrain themselves yet.
