Skeptically dove into this one. Liked the topic, but was sensing a blog post padded out to a book. While there was some arguable padding and a bit of repetitiveness, this was a rigorously researched and surprisingly dense look at generalists vs. specialists. In a nutshell, Epstein argues that domain expertise is over-rated in many scenarios, that getting a head start by specializing early typically doesn’t hold up in the long-term, and experts are not more successful at making predictions than non-experts. As a generalist of sorts, this was music to my biased ears.
