How High We Go in the Dark

, pages

A very haunting series of linked short stories that describe a broken world undergoing a pandemic and climate change in the 2030s. Heavy themes of death, family and finding meaning in dark times. Significant sci-fi seasoning without being true sci-fi. It won’t be for everyone, but I found it exceptional and anticipate multiple chapters will stay with me for a long time. Supposedly, it was written prior to Covid in 2020; had I not known that I would have assumed the author used Covid as a foundation, doubling down on its severity and impact. Randomly heard about the book from STL Today’s Derrick Goold on the Best Podcast in Baseball.
