This novel rotates between three stories sharing a common theme of running away from your current life/changing identities. The stories are quite
distinct, but there’s a feeling that the stories will somehow intersect. The author does a good job of weaving in back story of the characters’ lives while keeping things moving forward. However, the stories felt like they kept building to a climax that wouldn’t arrive. When surprises were revealed (andconnections made between the stories), it was donein a very subtle way that was disappointing. I appreciated the author’s restraint here, but in the end I felt like the cleverness lacked impact because of the way he chose to develop the final portion of the book. A solid novel, nonetheless.
