This Is How You Lose the Time War

I give this one props for trying to be unique. The execution though just wasn’t my jam. Written in abstract prose, it took deep attention to figure out what the two main characters were trying to say to each other. And with a very thin and equally abstract storyline, I wasn’t motivated to continuously re-read the text to decipher the fullest meaning of the characters’ words. Essentially the messages were “I have fallen in love with you” on repeat, every chapter. One of the authors is a college English teacher, and I can see her relishing in the layers of meaning injected into the prose that the reader is supposed to decipher. Still kudos for a unique format and concept about a sci-fi war of two opposing forces across time.
