The Business of Expertise
, pages
In possible anticipation of working with this consultant, I read Baker’s book on how firms identify their expertise and position accordingly in order to charge a premium price. This one hit really close to home as his examples of poorly positioned firms mirrored Traina in stunning fashion. He included some personal philosophy on work/life, but it was predominantly business focused, organized into succinct chapters. If I weren’t in the midst of a firm on the brink, this book wouldn’t resonate as much, so it is difficult to rank objectively. Regardless, there is plenty of useful advice with little fluff. And like his podcast, Baker has a practical, approachable voice with a good sense of humor marked by a touch of smartass.
