An interesting article stretched to book length. The first third was compelling and it slowly became overtaken by common sense. There’s just enough interesting data and thinking to keep this out of the gimmick category. I appreciated the guy’s honest, if not corny voice, but did not appreciate the overwhelming amount of marketing plugs for his website and newsletter and other properties. Book felt like the tip-of-the-spear of a marketing machine – kudos to him – but a turn off. On the fence about the highly structured nature of the book – both helpful to help retain the content but also a page-stretcher. I wanted to end up a rabid fan of this guy like it appears others are, but there’s too much cheese mixed with the meat.
