The Echo Wife

Mixed feelings on this one. Clearly a talented writer. Interesting premise. Husband cheats on his wife with a clone of his wife. The sci-fi part was minimal. This was about relationships, told from the wife’s point of view. I struggled with how personal the voice felt — is this a fictional story or a personal reflection of the author? It all felt too close to home. Knowing that the author’s pronouns are “they/their” — I may have read into the story line more than is warranted. Nevertheless, it was a distraction that kept me from enjoying this well-crafted novel.
