An easy flow to this book. Short chapters with punchy endings to each chapter. This one was touted as a real thriller with at least one jaw-dropping twist. So I read it in anticipation of trying to pinpoint what was going to happen. Started to get frustrated as the book got into late-stage territory and nothing dramatic unfolded. Then the twist finally showed up, and it was clearly taken from the “what-the-hell-that’s-just-being-misleading-M-Night-Shyamalan” playbook. Then the remaining text felt a bit rushed in an attempt to iron out some of the details impacted by the twist. So huge potential, but an annoying ending. Some readers loved it. Others hated it. I was mostly just disappointed.
