Project Hail Mary

A unique approach to sci-fi where the author painstakingly applies known scientific principles (physics, quantum mechanics, biology, etc.) to make a far-fetched premise more realistic. While I appreciated this effort, it came across as Weir trying to show off how much he knows and some of the mathematical and other scientific details were annoying to slog through. Some good character dynamics offset by a quirky alien storyline. I really wanted to love this, but it falls into the mediocre category. Would be open to seeing the movie that is supposedly in pre-production.
