That’s Not A Feeling

Dan Josefson, 343 pages

This one was disappointing. While the author demonstrated creativity in developing a unique and cerebrally bizarre boarding school for troubled teens, I wasn’t able to discern how serious or how playful his world was supposed to be. Character development was the weakest point of the book – beyond some rudimentary physical descriptions, it was hard to identify with or care about most of the players. Plot suffered accordingly. It was an easy read and did provoke some thinking about approaches to teaching and mentorship, but ultimately felt like a comedian’s joke that while original, falls flat.
