A Dog’s Journey
W. Bruce Cameron, 331 pages
A worthy sequel to A Dog’s Purpose. Suspending any disbelief in the premise and the general storyline is a must and was easy to do in this case (I love dogs and like to think they serve a higher purpose than random companionship). The author is adept at creating relatable characters and telling their stories through the eyes of the author’s best character – the dog. This novel could be read as a standalone book, although knowing the back story from the original is helpful. The story isn’t as sad as its predecessor and was a little slow for me in the middle, yet the notion of a dog’s spirit reincarnating until it has fulfilled its purpose was enough to keep me barreling through this one until the end. Good book if you have read the original and have a passion for man’s best friend.
