Death Be Not Proud
John Gunther, 205 pages
As advertised, a journalist and author in the 70s recounts his 17-year-old son’s year-and-a-half long battle with brain cancer. It was sad. Also a little slow. I didn’t find it nearly as emotionally resonant as I expected. Also frustrating to read given the lack of technology the doctors were dealing with given the era. Overall, many parallels—from an outsider’s point of view—with the trials and tribulations of the Lubbes’ story.
